Reading Al-Quran

We love to read people twit, we like to read the news twit, we like to read a twit about traffic, and others, but whether we've read the Quran? me, answering to myself, "oh yes, yet, when?tonight maybe?".

Well, things like this, which frequently appears in our minds, later, tomorrow, if possible.

whereas if we read the status of people on twitter can fervently laughing on it. Then when we read the Qur'an?

There are very good advice of Wali, Soul Potion that there are 5:

1. Read the Quran and its meaning

2. Night Prayer

3. Make friends with Sholeh people

4. Fast

5. Dhikr at night

based on this thought, I create conditions so what if I accidentally read the Qur'an.

Since I often read the news on twitter, then I created Twitter account, called @QuranLine and @QuranWord .

Through these two twitter accounts, I post writings of Al-Quran and its meaning automatically every hour. So in one day, there will be 24 verses of the Qur'an which will accidentally I read. or if I missed previous verses, I could read it back from the twitter account. @QuranLine will tweet with the meaning of the Indonesian language, while @QuranWord will tweet with the English.

Kita suka membaca twit orang, kita suka membaca twit berita, kita suka membaca twit tentang lalu lintas, dan lainnya, tapi apakah kita sudah baca Al-Qur'an? saya sendiri, menjawab dalam hati, "oh iya, belum, kapan ya, nanti ah, nanti malam kali ya?".

Nah, hal2 seperti ini, yg dalam hati kita sering muncul, nanti lah, besok lah, kalo sempet lah.

sedangkan kita kalau baca status orang di twitter bisa dengan khusyuk nya bahkan ketawa2 sendiri. Lalu kapan baca Al-Qur'an nya?

padahal, nasehat yang sangat bagus dari para wali, Obat Hati itu ada 5:

1. Baca Al-Qur'an dan artinya

2. Sholat Malam

3. Bertemanlah dengan orang Sholeh

4. Berpuasa

5. Dzikir pada malam hari

nah, karena hal inilah saya kepikiran, gimana kalau menciptakan kondisi supaya saya tidak sengaja membaca Al-Qur'an.

Karena saya sering membaca berita di twitter, maka saya buat account Twitter, namanya @QuranLine dan @QuranWord.

Melalui 2 account twitter tersebut, saya mempost tulisan Al-Qur'an dan artinya secara otomatis setiap jam. Jadi dalam 1 hari, akan ada 24 ayat Al-Qur'an yang akan tidak sengaja saya baca. atau kalau saya terlewat ayat2 sebelumnya, saya bisa membacanya kembali dari account twitter tersebut. @QuranLine akan mentwit dengan arti bahasa Indonesia, sedangkan @QuranWord akan mentwit dengan bahasa Inggris.

new firmware for Nokia E71

finally, after upgrading my Nokia E71 with new firmware (210.21.006), all features that should work from the start, it is work now.

my nokia e71

well, this mobile device has been in my dream several times, but i still can not afford this thing.

but one day, when HP (Hewlett-Packard) Team invite my team and i, they have a lucky draw session that gives a lot of door prize, and luckily, i got HP iPAQ 912c, it is a mobile device, with qwerty keyboard, built in GPS receiver, windows mobile 6.1, HSDPA 7.2 mbps. well it is a great device, but, where is the navigation? the GPS receiver only equipped with Google Map? what a poor device, such a high end device with minim software. and the battery, it only last for 12 hours!!

then i decide to sell it. i went to Mall Ambassador to sell it, but, it just out of my prediction, a new device that just launched by HP several weeks ago, has no one that interested to it, no body wanted to buy it!!

until one day, i found a gadget shop that only sells PDA related things, and anything that using windows mobile as the OS. i contacted this shop by phone and asked if i wanted to sell my HP iPAQ 912c. do you know what they said? "sorry, i have 2 HP iPAQ 912c since it was announced by HP, but until today, i can not sell it. if you still want to sell it, the price might dropped as much as 30%", it means, from new HP iPAQ 912c market price, which is around USD 600, dropped to USD 400. unbelievable, but i asked again, how about a trade with Nokia E71? well, after a few minutes discussion, they accept the transaction, finally, i got my new White Nokia E71.

first thing first, i installed all of my main apps, such as, mail for exchange, gmail, messenger software, and some games.

i did not read the manual, but i like to watch the tutorial that more helpful.

after a few days, i found that some function is not working in this device.

one of them that i really want to be available is "easy dialing".

i found this function should exists from:

Menu --> Help --> Tutorial --> Calling --> Easy dialing

i really disappointed with Nokia when i send them an email regarding this, and they said: "This function is not available in Indonesia", but how cam it is not available while in their site in

http://www.nokia.co.id/A41177238 and then go to:

"Panggilan" --> "Menyambung dari layar awal".

it clearly shows how to make an easy dialing in Indonesian, but how come it can not be done with my Nokia E71, although i have upgraded it to new firmware (110.07.127).

in the end, until today, i keep waiting for new firmware update for Nokia E71. hopefully Nokia will be able to make a software update that make this function working on my device.

finding a secret window to access forbidden site

it is irritating to have a very limited access to the world out there.

but, don't worry, there are a lot of way to be free.
at least, i have tried 2 of them that i want to share to you here.

1. use a public proxy
you choose one of them from http://www.proxy4free.com
you can access any website that currently blocked at your local proxy or your ISP network.
but, when i was trying this, i still can not download torrent files from these proxies.

2. use premium proxy software
you can use a free limited service, or pay for it if you want.

i have tried your-freedom from http://www.your-freedom.net
this is a cool software that routes your way out to the free outside world.
but it has limitation for free service, it will automatically stop the connection per hour, so, you must reconnect the connection.
for free service, you will have 64kbps max for down link, and another 64kbps max for up link.

and then i found http://www.http-tunnel.com
it is, just like your-freedom, a cool software that routes your way out to the free outside world.
but it has no access limitation for free service, no auto disconnect feature here.
for free service, you will have a low bandwidth, but at least, you still can reach the world.

both your-freedom and http-tunnel can be used for downloading torrent files.

so, for you in Indonesia that currently blocked to some favorite site such as youtube, rapidshare, etc, you can use one of those solution to break your cage.

Discover the 90/10 Principle.

It will change your life (at least the way you react to situations).

What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react.

What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us.

We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic.

We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%.

How? ……….By your reaction.

You cannot control a red light. but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you; YOU can control how you react.

Let's use an example.

You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just happened.

What happens next will be determined by how you react.

You curse.

You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus.

Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit.

After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home.

When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter.

Why? …. Because of how you reacted in the morning.

Why did you have a bad day?

A) Did the coffee cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the policeman cause it?
D) Did you cause it?

The answer is “D".

You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day.

Here is what could have and should have happened.

Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say, "Its ok honey, you just need to be more careful next time". Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having.

Notice the difference?

Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different.

Why?

Because of how you REACTED.

You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction.

Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass. You don't have to let the negative comment affect you!

React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out etc.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel? A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try and bump them?

WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your drive?

Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it.

You are told you lost your job.

Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job.

The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take outpour frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on.

Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse.

Now you know the 90-10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The 90-10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle.

The result?

Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and heartache. We all must understand and apply the 90/10 principle.

Open Outlook .pst file in Linux

well, I'm using Microsoft Outlook, as a default mail client, since my office is using Microsoft Exchange as the mail server. and currently, my .pst file is growing bigger and bigger, and my Windows, getting more problem everyday. so, I'm moving to Linux as my OS, it is faster, and virus free. I still able to read my email using Evolution. But, it can not read .pst file where my old email are stored.

so, the question is, is there any Linux apps that can read .pst file from M$ Outlook?
please kindly let me know if there any.

why i love linux and why i still keep windows installed on my pc?

linux is, all you can eat menu. you can choose which apps that you need to install and which apps that is not. yet it is secure and virus free (currently i don't find any virus on my pc).

but, i really need Visio from M$ to do my job, although it is not really often, but it is needed. thats why i keep windows installed.

so, if you are a crazy developer, please, i'm begging you to port Visio to Linux. then absolutely i can get a lot more space on my pc.

2. divide it by 60
3. go here to get the lines needed
4. divide the lines needed by 30
5. round the result up
6. you get the E1 needed.

after reading the review, it is very an interesting smart phone.

currently i'm using se w950i, and i don't have any complaints on it except for the lack of RAM. and in this new mobile phone, se has learnt from the previous model, se increased the RAM.

i really hope that this p1i is not only good on the review, but also can be as a companion for working.

Portable Apps

if you don't have laptop that you can bring easily, or you are working with non dedicated PC for you, there is a very useful portable application that you can just store it on your flash drive, and bring it along with you wherever you go.

you can just use it without re-install the apps to the new PC whenever you got different PC.

if you have time, just move your hand over here and get portable apps that you might need.

What is a Home Location Register (HLR)?

A HLR is a database of user (subscriber) information, i.e., customer profiles, used in mobile (cellular) networks. It is a key component of mobile networks such as GSM, TDMA, and CDMA networks. A HLR contains user information such as account information, account status, user preferences, features subscribed to by the user, user's current location, etc. The data stored in HLRs for the different types of networks is similar but does differ in some details.

HLRs are used by the Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs) to originate and deliver arriving mobile calls.

What is a Visiting Location Register (VLR)?

A VLR is a database, similar to a HLR, which is used by the mobile network to temporarily hold profiles of roaming users (users outside their home area). This VLR data is based on the user information retrieved from a HLR. MSCs use a VLR to handle roaming users.

How are the HLR and VLR used?

Each mobile network has its own HLRs and VLRs. When a MSC detects a mobile user's presence in the area covered by its network, it first checks a database to determine if the user is in his/her home area or is roaming, i.e., the user is a visitor.

User in Home Area: HLR has the necessary information for initiating, terminating, or receiving a call.
User is Roaming: VLR contacts the user's HLR to get the necessary information to set up a temporary user profile.

The user's location is recorded in the HLR, and in case the user roaming, it is also recorded in the VLR. Suppose that the user wants to make a call:

User in Home Area: MSC contacts the HLR prior to setting up the call.
User is Roaming: MSC contacts the VLR prior to setting up the call.

Suppose that there is a call for the user (call goes to the home MSC):

User in Home Area: Home MSC delivers the call immediately.
User is Roaming: Home MSC contacts the VLR to determine the appropriate switch in the roaming area to handle the arriving call and then transfers the call to the roaming area MSC.

What are Some Issues with HLRs?

Performance, especially fast lookups.
Ability to handle different types of networks, including 3G networks.
Capability/data to support user authentication.
Support for data backups, fault tolerance, and reliability.
Scalability.

Fedora Core 6 Tips & Tricks

Fix i586/i686 Kernel issue

Under some circumstances the Fedora Core 6 installer (called Anaconda) will mistakenly install the i586 version of the Kernel rather than the more appropriate i686 version for Pentium 4 and newer 32-bit processors. This is not a problem on x86_64 and non-Intel/AMD processors.

To find out if your system has this problem type the following command:

$ rpm -qa --queryformat "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}.%{ARCH}\n"|grep kernel|sort

If you have a Pentium 4 or newer processor and the kernel version ends in i586 then your system and affected and needs to be updated to function at it's best. There are many ways described to do this on various forums but by far the easiest is the Kernel Fix Script on the Bugs/FC6Common site:

Fedora Core 6 - Common Bugs and Known Issues

Script down and find the script. Download it to your hard drive and run it as root:

# mkdir /tmp/kernel-fix # cd /tmp/kernel-fix # sh kernel-fix.sh

Then just follow the prompts and it will update your installed kernel. Using kernel-fix.sh sould be with care as it runs all the *.rpm at current directory (see line 32).

Add support for other repositories

Fedora core 6 has one major problem where on some systems it installs the i586 version of the kernel instead of i686. What this means is that those systems will be a little slower and will lack CPU frequency scaling. If you are running an i686 based system you can force the installation of the correct kernel by booting the installer with the following command:

linux i686

Fedora comes with a ton of software but there are still plenty of packages of interest to most users that are not included for a variety of reasons. This is where you find the MP3 plug-in and a ton of other packages.

These instructions can vary depending on 32bit or 64bit architecture. If there is a difference it will be noted. If you don't know which architecture you're running you can run the following command:

$ uname -m x86_64 ...or... i686

I'm still working on the 64 bit specific instructions so your feedback is very important.

Before you add repositories it's probably a good idea to make sure your system is fully updated first. It's still early but right now the Livna and freshrpms repositories seems to be the most useful. The easiest way to get started is to install the freshrpms-release packages:

Both 32 and 64 bits: # rpm -ihv http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/6/i386/RPMS.freshrpms/freshrpms-release-1.1-1.fc.noarch.rpm 32 bit version: # rpm -ihv http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/6/i386/livna-release-6-1.noarch.rpm 64 bit version: # rpm -ihv http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/6/x86_64/livna-release-6-1.noarch.rpm

To automatically install/update the Macromedia Flash version 9.0 plug-in copy This File to your /etc/yum.repos.d directory. You can browse the packages available there at http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/6/i386/ and http://zod.freshrpms.net/.

Install MP3 Plug-in

Since you've been following along this next step is about as easy as it gets. Just use yum to automatically install the MP3 plug-ins for xmms and Rhythmbox like this:

# yum -y install xmms xmms-mp3 xmms-faad2 gstreamer-plugins-ugly libmad libid3tag

While you're here you might as well install my personal favorite (this week at least) music player Banshee:

# yum -y install banshee

The -y flag is to automatically answer yes to any question. If you want to be able to say no you can ignore that flag.

While you're there I highly recommend the grip CD ripper which supports both MP3 and Ogg formats. Once again installation is quite simple:

# yum -y install grip

Install Macromedia Flash/Shockwave plug-in

Flash Plug-in 9.0
If you set up the repositories correctly above you should just need to do this to install the Flash plug-in version 9.0:

# yum -y install flash-plugin

You can get more information about this plug-in at http://macromedia.mplug.org/. Before the plug-in gets installed you'll need to agree to the terms of the license.

Special 64-bit instructions:
Now the problem with 64 bit, even on Windows, is that most plug-ins are still for some reason only available in a 32 bit version. This is a problem because a 64 bit version of Firefox can only use 64 bit plugins. There are several ways to solve this but by far the easiest is to just force the use of the 32-bit Firebox. Both versions are installed by default, you just need to make a little change to make sure only the 32-bit version gets run.

As of firefox-1.5.0.10-5.fc6 the method of selecting the 32-bit version has been simplified. Now you simply create a file called /etc/sysconfig/firefox-arch containing the following lines:

MOZ_LIB_DIR="/usr/lib" SECONDARY_LIB_DIR="/usr/lib64"

The remainder of these instructions are only for people who have not updated lately and still have an older version of Firefox. These instructions will go away soon:

Edit the file /usr/bin/firefox as root and go down to about line 40 and comment out the following code:

# Force 32 bit version #if [ -x "/usr/lib64/firefox-1.5.0.8/firefox-bin" ] #then #  MOZ_LIB_DIR="/usr/lib64" #fi

Then when you restart Firefox you'll be running the 32 bit version and the plug-ins you installed above will work just fine.

Install DVD player

Currently I find the DVD player that works best is the Xine Multimedia Player which is found in the Livna repository so installing it is just this simple:

# yum -y install xine xine-lib xine-skins xine-lib-extras-nonfree libdvdcss

This will install the xine DVD/VCD/CD player. Now to get xine to automatically play a DVD upon insertion instead of the Totem player which can't actually play DVDs, you can simply use the gconftool-2 utility as follows:

$ gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/volume_manager/autoplay_dvd_command \  'xine --auto-play --auto-scan dvd' --type='string'

Install MPlayer Media Player

At some point you're probably going to want to play a QuickTime, AVI or ASF file so you'll want the MPlayer media player. Fortunately with the FreshRpms repositories it's also very easy to download and install. Once again there are conflicts between the Livna and FreshRpms repositories and you'll have to disable one of them.

To prevent potential problems of updates in the Livna repository from messing up the mplayer and mencoder packages add the following line highligted in bold to the file /etc/yum.repos.d/livna.repo :

gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-livna exclude=mplayer* mencoder*  [livna-debuginfo]

Then you can go ahead and install mplayer and all it's dependencies:

# yum -y install mplayer mplayer-skins mplayer-fonts mplayerplug-in

This command line will download the whole kit and kaboodle. that if you want to play content from a command line that you use the gmplayer version which will include a skin-able control panel. This will install the plug-in to play a wide variety of media within your browser window. Restart your web browser after that whole mess is done installing and you'll also have a plug-in for Mozilla so you can play embedded content. While you're at it be sure to configure mplayer to use the ALSA sound system rather than the default. It just works better. Edit the file ~/.mplayer/config and add the following line:

ao=alsa

Special 64-bit instructions:
This installs the 64-bit version of everything but because your other plug-ins are 32-bits you need to run the 32-bit version of Firefox, which won't be able to use the 64-bit version of the plug-in you just installed. The plug-in can use the 64-bit version of the mplayer application just fine so all you need to do then is to install the 32-bit mplayerplug-in plus a dependency it requires. If you know of any easier way to do this please let me know below.

And finally you'll probably also want some additional codecs to play all that proprietary video that seems to have infected the Internet. Go to the MPlayer Download page and download the essential Binaries Codec Package. You'll need to install those files in /usr/local/lib/win32. Here are the steps. Remember the exact file names may change at some point.

# gtar xjvf essential-20061022.tar.bz2 # mkdir /usr/local/lib/win32 # mv essential-20061022/* /usr/local/lib/win32

Install VLC (VideoLAN Client)

Multimedia can be the achilles heel of Linux, but with just a little work you should be able to play just about anything your friends can. Besides Mplayer the other great video player is called VLC. It too is trivially easy to install once you have your repositories set up:

# yum -y install videolan-client

Once the client and a zillion dependencies get installed you can play a huge variety of video formats easy with the command vlc

Install RealPlayer 10 Media Player

If you have a better way of installing a Real Medial player please let me know if in the comments section below. Thanks to Chandra Shekhar for this great tip for making RealPlayer actually use ALSA instead of OSS. I've incorporated the changes into the guide below but here is a link to the original document.

Before you install the play you'll need to make sure the compat-libstdc++-33 module is installed. Download the RealPlayer10 package from the following location:

RealPlayer10GOLD.rpm

First install the dependencies.

32 bit version # yum -y install compat-libstdc++-33 alsa-oss 64 bit version  There really MUST be an easier way! # rpm -ihv ftp://fedora.cat.pdx.edu/linux/extras/6/i386/alsa-oss-1.0.12-3.fc6.i386.rpm

Then install the RPM:

# rpm -ihv RealPlayer10GOLD.rpm

The other thing you'll need to do is prevent the mplayerplug-in you installed above from trying to handle Real Media. I don't know why it's included because it almost never works correctly. The easiest way to disable it is to remove the appropriate plugin files:

# cd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins # rm mplayerplug-in-rm.so

Then whenever you want to view something just use /usr/bin/realplay . Here is a link to a cute test video to make sure it's working for you.

If audio is working but you have a black screen then it's possible your video card doesn't support XVideo. You can turn it off by clicking on Tools -> Preferences then choose the Hardware tab and disable Use XVideo .

If the video doesn't play properly the first thing to check is to make sure you're not running SElinux, it seems to prevent the RealPlayer from getting access to the drivers. I currently run with SElinux disabled but I recommend you run it in the Targeted mode rather than the most secure mode.

Now a bit of a tricky part. You'll need to edit the executable /usr/bin/realplay as root and locate the section below around line 56. Then add the code that's highlighted and save the file back.

After you've run it the first time and gone through the configuration screens edit the ~/.realplayerrc file and add the following line in the [helix] section of the configuration:

[helix] SoundDriver=2         .         .

For some reason on my system RealPlayer uses the the old and virtually obsolete OSS sound driver. The line above tells it to use the newer ALSA sound driver instead.

Install Java J2RE and Mozilla Plug-in

It's also very handy to have the Java run-time environment available and most importantly a Mozilla plug-in so you can view dynamic content. It's unfortunate that Mozilla will actually crash if you go to a site containing Java and you don't have the plug-in installed.

For now there is no easy way to do this but I found the following instructions on FedoraForums.org. Basically, start by downloading the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9 (at the time I wrote this) from Sun.com. You'll want to grab the Linux RPM in self-extracting file. Then you want to install it with:

# sh ./jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586-rpm.bin

Then you'll probably want to enable Java Plug-ins and here once again there is no easy way:

# ln -s /usr/java/jre1.5.0_09/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

And finally you'll need to tell Fedora that you wish to use this version of Java as the preferred interpreter rather than the Open Source version that's installed by default. You'll of course need to adjust the full pathname if you install a newer version of the jre than the one in this example:

# /usr/sbin/alternatives --install /usr/bin/java java /usr/java/jre1.5.0_09/bin/java 1509 # java -version java version "1.5.0_09" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_09-b05) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_09-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

Install NTFS driver

With repositories like Fedora Extras it's now very easy to add NTFS support to Fedora:

# yum -y install ntfs-3g

Then you can simply mount NTFS file systems using the option -t ntfs-3g. You can find more detailed information about this driver at http://www.ntfs-3g.org/

Install Internet Explorer

I know what you're saying, why would I ever want Internet Explorer installed on my perfectly good Linux system? If you don't have your own answer to that question, feel free to just skip this section. For everyone else, it's actually quite easy thanks to some very handy scripts from IEs4Linux. Before you start you'll need to make sure you have >wine and cabextract installed:

# yum -y install wine cabextract

Then just download the latest script, extract and run it. The example below is based on version 2.0.5, just adjust the version number as necessary. Please note that you will want to install and run this as your own user, NOT as root. I used the defaults except that I installed all the versions of IE. I do some web development and I always find myself needing to resolve some goofy incompatibilites with older versions of IE.

$ gtar xzvf ies4linux-2.0.5.tar.gz $ cd ies4linux-2.0.5 $ ./ies4linux Welcome, greg! I'm IEs4Linux. I can install IE 6, 5.5 and 5.0 for you easily and quickly. You are just four 'enter's away from your IEs.  I'll ask you some questions now. Just answer y or n (default answer is the bold one)  IE 6 will be installed automatically. Do you want to install IE 5.5 SP2 too? [ y / n ] y  .  .  . IEs 4 Linux installations finished!  To run your IEs, type:  ie6  ie55  ie5

Install Other Odds and Ends

Add MS TrueType Fonts (TTF)

Many people will find it handy to have MS TrueType fonts available to make sure many websites render correctly. You can download the latest RPM from http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-fc5.html#ttf and install it as follows:

Turn off the ANNOYING Spatial Nautilus Behavior

I don't know if it's the worst feature of Fedora but it's definitely in the top 5. You can get the old more sane behavior by bringing up nautilus then choose Edit -> Preferences then select the Behavior tab. Near the top find the option for Always open in browser windows and make sure it is checked.

Other Handy Utilities

Here are a few other tools that aren't installed by default but a lot of people find handy:

audacity-nonfree - A version of the excellent Audacity sound editor which includes MP3 support bittorrent-gui - Simple Gnome based BitTorrent client
cups-pdf - Add-on to CUPS which creates a PDF Printer which you can use to print any document in PDF format. The file is written to your Desktop.
gnomebaker - GTK based CD/DVD burning utility
screen - If you do a lot with the command line you'll find screen invaluable
testdisk - Two command line utilities to recover lost partitions and undelete files on FAT filesystems. VERY handy for undeleting files on flash memory cards.
thunderbird - Excellent E-mail client that complements Firefox

Convert from VCD to mp4

first, i got sony ericsson m600i, and sony psp, that able to play movies, and is support mp4. and, i got many vcd that i have not whatched, because i dont have a lot of time to stay in front of my home theatre (i mean, tv + vcd player ... :D). so, i only have time when i'm boring in the middle of meeting, or in the middle of seminar, or when in the train. then my m600i and psp helps alot. so, if you want to convert your vcd to mp4, you are on the right place. but, i only do it from vcd to mp4. and using VLC Media player, and 3gp converter. 3gp converter is the gui of ffmpeg.

first, open VLC Media Player,
from menu -> file -> open file
choose the vcd file (ex: avseq01.dat)
above the "OK" butten, check "Stream output" then click "Settings..."
in the "output methods" section,
check "File", then click "Browse..." and select the destination you wish to save the output file.
ex: file1.mpg
in the "transcoding options" section,
check "Video codec", choose: mp4v, 1024, 1
check "Audio codec", choose: mp4a, 192, 2
then click "OK"
and then click "OK" again

this time, vlc will convert the file, from vcd, to mp4.
you will see the progress bar and timer is moving fast.

after it finished creating file1.mpg, open the 3gp converter
select the output format, for m600i or psp, i'm using QVGA/15fps/216kbps Stereo/96kbps
and select the output destination, and then, drag the file1.mpg and drop it to the 3gp_converter.
if everything ok, it should be automaticaly working on converting the file1.mpg to your destination directory, you will find file1.mp4 and file1.thm. if you would like to play it from your m600i, you only need to copy file1.mp4 to the video directory, but if you would like to play it from psp, you must rename the file1.mp4 and file1.thm to M4Vxxxxx.MP4 and M4Vxxxxx.THM and copy it to MP_ROOT/100MNV01/ in the psp. xxxxx -> sequence number, ex: M4V00001.MP4 and M4V00001.THM

now, you can play your vcd anytime you have the time ....

ok, i have the solution for both creating email adress and reset the password at once.
and still using that csvde and net user command line interface. in this page, you will also find dsrm command line to delete an email address. and for the script, i'm using PHP, and some pear packages. so, it will be a script to create an email address and reset the password on microsoft exchange 2003 using PHP.

the file you should find on this page is:

email.add.php -> php script to create email and reset the password on microsoft exchange server
email.del.php -> php script to delete email from microsoft exchange server
do.email.add.php -> interface to add an email address using email.add.php

first, you must have PHP installed on your microsoft exchange server, it is up to you, using MS IIS, or Apache as the web server, but i recomend you to use Apache as it is easy to maintain. and if you using Apache, i recomend you to install the web service on port 8080. and then make sure that there is nobody can access that web service on port 8080 is only your server that will integrate the microsoft exchange email provisioning application.

microsoft exchange: add email

afaik, microsoft exchange server 2003 does not have any utility to add email from other computer. it will make an email administrator confused if he was asked by their boss to add email address for the new employee that has just joined. or if you work on an internet service provider, and your company using microsft exchange server as the email server for the customer, every new customer register the account, you must go to the server, remote the server, and open the active directory users and computers window, to add a new user. imagine if there are more than 250 customer waiting for the email address that they have subscribed for. you will get 'ngelu bin pusing tujuh keliling' handling those email creation manualy.

microsoft active directory, has some command line interface to import or export active directory objects. it called csvde. with csvde, we can import/export from/to a bulk of csv file.

ok, lets make it quick, create a csv file like this:

and save it to test1.csv

from the command line, go to the directory that you save test1.csv, and run

csvde -i -f test1.csv

this command, will create all that 5 users in the active directory in the csv file, as well as the email address.

oops, i forgot to tell you, you must disable the password requirements in windows domain security policy. (open domain security policy -> account policies -> password policy, set Minimum password length = 0, and set Password must meet complexity requirements to Disabled). and run again

csvde -i -f test1.csv

ok, now that 5 users and email address already created, but, with no password.
to set the password, you can use net command:

net user mbah1 Pa$$w0rd

this command will set the user and email password for user mbah1 to Pa$$w0rd.

and if on the csv file is containing 5 users, you must type that command 5 times.
yes, it is not effective, but this is the only way .... sorry.

but, don't wory, i will give you the solution of this f***ing hell problem.

menggunakan 10 jari kita untuk mengetik memanglah tidak susah, jika memang kita sudah pernah belajar mengetik 10 jari menggunakan mesin ketik yang sangat keras dan licin pijakanya.
using our 10 finger to type is not dificult if we have learnt typing using our 10 finger on the hard and slippery type writter.

tips mengetik 10 jari menurut saya:
tips typing using 10 finger from me:

pastikan 2 jari telunjuk pada huruf 'F' untuk tangan kiri, dan huruf 'J' pada tangan kanan dan pada tombol space untuk kedua ibu jari.
make sure 2 of our index finger is on letter 'F' for the left side, and letter 'J' for the right side, on on the space bar for both of thumb.
untuk tangan kiri, dari kelingking - telunjuk, pastikan selalu standby di atas huruf 'A', 'S', 'D', 'F'
for the left hand, from litle finger to index finger, make sure always standby on key 'A', 'S', 'D', 'F'
untuk tangan kanan, dari telunjuk - kelingking, pastikan selalu standby di atas huruf 'J', 'K', 'L', ';'
for the right hand, from index to litle finger, make sure always standby on key 'J', 'K', 'L', ';'

nah, dengan membiasakan diri menempatkan jari2 kita di tombol2 tsb, dengan sendirinya akan memudahkan kita untuk menggunakan 10 jari kita untuk mengetik, bukan dengan 11 jari.
so, with getting familiar placing our fingers on those keys, it will make us typing using 10 fingers easier, not with 11 finger.
